Back from San Francisco and inspired by all the adventurous ice-cream flavours I tasted, I started experimenting at home. Green tea and elderflower turned out to be my favourite combination.

Elderflower and poppyseed cake
Baked for our Peak District road trip, this elderflower and poppyseed cake quickly became everyone’s favourite. Light, gently floral and not overly sweet, it’s the kind of homemade bake that travels well and tastes of summer.

Elderflower cordial
A simple elderflower cordial made from flowers picked by the river Lea. A small preserving moment, a handwritten label, and making things from scratch, as always.
