A day out at Petersham Nurseries

Me, my mum (who was visiting), and Vicki ended up spending the day at Petersham Nurseries. I had heard about it before, but somehow never made it there. It really is such a beautiful place, though not in a polished, showroom way. More in a slightly wild, tangled, overgrown greenhouse kind of way. The kind of place where you lose track of time.

We sat among the vines and mismatched tables and had cake. The lavender, rose water and almond one was my favourite. Subtle and fragrant, not overly sweet. The sort of cake you remember long after you’ve finished it.

There is also a little shop tucked inside with vintage country pieces and gardening bits. I picked up some colourful gardening twine with vague plans of knitting something out of it. Not entirely sure what yet.

It’s in Richmond, if you’re wondering. Not that I’m trying to convince you to go. I just liked it. It felt calm. Unrushed. A little dreamy.

And now a busy weekend ahead. A dear friend’s wedding tomorrow. What are you up to?
