San Francisco: Beach in the City

My holiday in San Francisco is coming to an end, and I am excited to say I have met some truly interesting people I hope to stay in touch with 😉

I find it difficult to describe this city in one sentence. It is so diverse and multicultural, in ways that feel even more layered than London. Every neighbourhood feels almost like a different country. Here I have picked my favourite point of view…

As you already know, I love nature, and San Francisco greenery is no exception. I had never quite experienced a beach within a city before 🙂

I love how succulents and cacti grow wild outdoors here. In London I am limited to aloe and other similar plants indoors.

I discovered another cute plant, a Tillandsia, also called an air plant. It needs no soil, just an occasional mist. Perfect for tiny or large terrariums. I am definitely making one soon.

I have visited some pretty vintage shops, cafes and bookshops, most of them in the Mission District, my favourite area in San Francisco so far.

Today I tried pear and goat’s cheese tart. I love experimenting with flavour combinations. If you do too, try berry crumble cheesecake with goat’s cheese.

My ice cream tasting went to another level. Basil, honey and lavender, balsamic strawberry, plum, fig and amaretto, brown sugar banana, roasted corn, peanut chip, cardamom, and finally cranberry muesli. I cannot wait to make my own one day.

And finally, what I loved most was escaping to the beach, just thirty minutes from the city by bus. A little pause from the noise, sand between my toes, and that endless horizon.
