Instructions for Christmas craft kits!

Missed your chance to order Christmas craft kits? Well here is your chance to make your own hanging decorations with the materials you have. These instructions are exactly the same as you would have found in the Friendly Nettle craft kits.

HANGING BIRD DECORATION

You can download the cutting pattern here!

Cut the bird pieces out of felt material (you can use something else, but felt is easiest as it does not fray)

Stitch two bird body pieces together all around the edge. Blanket stitch is the most suitable. remember to leave a gap for the stuffing.

Fill the bird with stuffing.

Insert both ends of the ribbon into the gap and stitch through the body pieces to secure the ribbon and close the gap.

Next, stitch and stuff the wings the same way as the body.

If you would like to, you could embroider the wings before attaching them to the body. You can embroider the bird body as well at this stage.

Attach the wings to the body by making just few back and forward stitches.

You are done!

CROCHET STAR DECORATION

For this project you will need some yarn and a matching crochet hook

A diagram illustrating crochet symbols including chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, and double treble crochet, along with a star shape pattern.

Start with 10 chain stitches. Slip stitch at the 10th stitch to form a loop. (round 1.)

Work 20 single crochet stitches all around the loop. Slip stitch at the 20th stitch. (round 2.)

Work 6 chain stitches to begin triangle crochet (click here to learn more about it).

After each completed triangle slip stitch at the 4th stitch on the 2nd round. (round 3.).

When 5 triangles are completed finish the star off by snipping the end of the yarn and pulling it through to the back.
