24th of February 7.30pm: PARENTING WORKSHOP: PICKY EATING

Whether you want to find ways to help promote a healthy relationship with food or you’re finding your little ones eating (or refusal to!) is driving you to distraction then this session is for you.

Weaning specialist Sarah will give you ways to manage your expectations of what / how your little one ‘should’ eat vs what they need to be eating.

It’s not about hidden veg or quick fixes.
Instead, you’ll come away armed with a heap of knowledge and lots of ways to support your little one with their eating.

14th of February 2pm: VALENTINE’S AFTERNOON TEA

We are celebrating Valentines with the family in mind. If you would like to have a date with your partner but still would like to bring your kids (or not) we got you! We got a large play area which can be used while you enjoy our afternoon tea selection. Additionally we also offer vegan afternoon tea which let’s be honest is the best in Bedfordshire 😉. If you are vegan (or wannabe vegan) and looking for a place where you can eat out then look no further. We constantly try to come up with good vegan options at the cafe! This event is for us to try out new vegan options for you to enjoy and review. We will have lunch items, drinks, and sweet treats. Hope to see you there!

21st of January 9.00am: OUR BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Can you believe, we have survived 2 years of “C” illness and because we opened just before the pandemic started we are now celebrating our 2nd anniversary as well!! We have been through loads of up and downs and we really want to celebrate the day with you. So if you are around on the 21st please come and say hi and maybe have some of our celebratory Shortstown shortbread with us ;-).

Are you looking for a relaxing evening to get you into the Christmas spirit? This clay decorations workshop offers just that and more. In this workshop you will learn how to work with clay using tips and techniques to create beautiful handmade pieces you can gift to loved ones or to keep at home. You will be using air drying clay and will be able to take your items home with you. You will also have the opportunity to purchase extra clay, home kits and Jemhaus Ceramics. £35 per person includes materials/tools, Christmas drink and nibbles. To register go here.

We are hosting yet another Handmade Christmas Market that we are really looking forward to. Like before, besides the market and loads of fun activities we are going to serve mince pies, ginger biscuits, and non-alcoholic mulled wine to bring all those festivities. On the day our doors will open at 11am and we will close at 2pm. Hope you can join us ;-).

19th of September: AUTUMN VIBES SUNDAY

We are so excited about the beginning of Autumn and everything seasonal. We thought we will welcome it with pumpkin spice lattes and toffee apple treats. Join us from 11am for a relaxed afternoon treat.

20th of June: SUNDAY BREAKFAST

We know a lot of you will appreciate this event! We heard how some of you were not able to visit us on our opening days so we thought we will extend our breakfast to one of our special Sunday events. Besides, it’s Father’s day. This could be a perfect gift (hint hint!). On the day we will be serving our usual breakfast menu, so please check it out here. We will be open from 10am to 1pm on the day. Hopefully see you there ;-).

18th of July: SUMMER FAIR

We are celebrating yet another end of lockdown (hopefully the last one this time!) with a handmade market. Our Christmas market event was so successful that we decided to repeat it. This time we are planning on even more fun activities, but it all depends on the restrictions (hopefully none). So if you want a stall to sell your handmade stuff then the forms are available at the cafe. On the day our doors will open at 11am and we will close at 2pm. We will of course serve drinks and cakes as usual ;-).

16th of May: LATE SPRING PICNIC

To celebrate the  upcoming summer and hopefully warm weather (fingers crossed) we are excited to host a picnic event at your preferred location: any park around or your own garden. This is how it will work: visit us, pick your picnic food (including drinks), we will pack it  ready in convenient packaging , meet your friends and family with food to share ;-). Expect pastries, savoury bakes such as pies, selection of salads and more!

18th of April : REOPENING!!

We are reopening again after another lockdown. We know, we know! The lockdown has not ended yet, but restrictions have been relaxed and we thought we would get some tables outside for safe socialising. We are so excited about the future that we have planned a few group meetings once we are out of lockdown. You will be able to sign up for those at our opening (or after). And if you are interested to run your group you will be able to do the same and register your idea all at the same time. On the day we will be serving cakes and drinks only, but hopefully we will have some of our seasonal items as well! Hope you can join us 😉

6th of December: COLOURFUL CHRISTMAS MARKET

We are celebrating the end of lockdown on the 6th of December with a Christmas Market in funfair style! Besides the market and loads of fun activities we are going to serve mince pies, ginger biscuits, and non-alcoholic mulled wine to bring all those festivities. Hope you can join us in celebrating! 

1st of November: AMERICAN DINER BREAKFAST

To celebrate the upcoming American elections we thought we would give an American breakfast a try. Expect waffles served with maple syrup together with rashers of bacon and more….Oh, and a selection of milkshakes! You really don’t want to miss this event! 4th of October: SUNDAY ROAST

As a cafe our focus is bringing Shortstown community together and we hope that this event will serve exactly that. We hope to see people coming to have Sunday Roast dinner us as a one big family (although due to covid-19 it is socially distanced). For this reason we lowered our prices to make this as affordable as possible for everyone. For more info read this ;-).
